FAMILY MEMBERS
AFSA appreciates the unique challenges, capabilities,
accomplishments, and sacrifices of military family members.
Accordingly, we will continue to promote recognition of the supportive
role they play in defending this nation, and we will work for
improvement of the benefit programs for these great Americans.
H.R. 2874, "Helping Active Duty Deployed Act of
2009," Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-VA, To amend the
Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to improve the equitable relief
available for servicemembers called to active duty, and for other
purposes. This relief includes leniency on ending cell phone
contracts, residential and motor vehicle leases, and tuition relief for
those who are called to active duty and/or
deployed.
S.3232: the “Military Spouses Employment
Act,” by Sen. Richard Burr, R-NC, to make employers of
spouses of military personnel eligible for the work opportunity
credit.
