Been There, Done That? ...Become an eMentor

The Air Force Sergeants Association and the eMentor Leadership Program are partnering to offer mentoring services to Air Force members, AF spouses, AFSA members and AF veterans to assist them in the civilian job search and transition process.  This partnership is with the eMentor Program, an award-winning web-based program that connects transitioning military members, veterans and spouses with volunteer mentors for goal-oriented relationships. Designed to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers, the eMentor Program offers support, trusted networking, and growth opportunities through mentorship.

The first milestone is to recruit mentors from AFSA’s chapters around the world. eMentor includes a program that serves two audiences transitioning military members and veterans through the Veteran eMentor Program, and military spouses through the Military Spouse eMentor Program. Participating mentors can provide guidance and support in career transition, career advancement, work/life balance, and other veteran or military family related challenges.

The process makes it easy to become a mentor by using the established and reputable eMentor Program platform. Being a mentor requires commitment and dedication but not necessarily a lot of time. Mentors can actively and effectively work with a mentee in 60-90 minutes per month.

This mentor open enrollment period will last until December 15th of each year. By then there should be a solid cadre of volunteer mentors and will then open the program for protege enrollment.

eMentor is a cutting-edge online mentoring program for military personnel, veterans and military
spouses. eMentor connects individuals for dynamic mentoring experiences that powerfully move them
forward in their personal and professional lives.

VETERAN AND MILITARY SPOUSE eMENTOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

The Veteran and Military Spouse eMentor Program leverages the internet to create a dynamic information sharing, learning and a support community that extends far beyond the veteran’s and/or military spouse’s current network. We welcome protégés who served in the Armed Forces and are now seeking civilian employment or assistance with any aspect of the transition to civilian life. Additionally,
we welcome military spouses or widowers of military members and veterans who can benefit from personalized career guidance, advice, support and inspiration from more experienced veterans, military spouses, career mentors and veteran and military spouse-friendly employers.

Designed to bridge the gap between organizations and job seekers, the eMentor Program offers support, trusted networking and success. Having a mentor who can provide insights into civilian careers and corporate hiring practices removes some of the anxiety of navigating a new career path in the
corporate world. Mentors help protégé’s overcome fears and dream big!

We invite mentors, with or without military experience, to join and assist protégés with their job search and other career challenges. The program puts veterans and military spouses in virtual touch with corporate and career mentors for guidance and support to assist in the specific challenges our Veterans and Military Spouses face whether facing a transition from active duty to the civilian life or the constant
changing of careers and/or jobs due to military demands.

MILITARY ENTREPRENEUR eMENTOR PROGRAM

Many veterans and military spouses are finding themselves starting their own businesses! The time it takes to go from the idea stage to the launch and further to business growth and expansion is a quite a journey that can, at times, feel daunting and lonely. The journey can be much more enjoyable and less stressful if you utilize the opportunity to have a fellow entrepreneur mentor you! In partnership with Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), eMentor initiated the Military Entrepreneur mentoring program to offer assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners. The Military Entrepreneur eMentor Program is offered by invitation only and protégés must be graduates of IVMF’s Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV), Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans’ Families (EBV-F), or Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (V-WISE). These programs are considered the gold-standard for those aspiring to start or grow their own businesses. For more information about this program, please visit https://www.ementorprogram.org/

If you’d like to inquire about attending an IVMF Entrepreneurial Bootcamp, please contact ebvtsp@syr.edu.

If you’re interested in receiving an invitation to the eMentor Military Entrepreneur eMentor Community, please contact us at admin@ementorprogram.org.
