TRICARE Select Health Care Benefits
Section 731 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) mandated the Defense Health Agency to implement a pilot program, “Navigator Pilot.” The pilot launched May 1, 2020. Under this pilot, certain TRICARE Select beneficiary’s ages 0-64 with complex medical conditions receive assistance with the following:
The Defense Health Agency contracted with Accolade Health Inc. to launch the TRICARE Select Navigator health care pilot to provide assistance to certain TRICARE Select beneficiaries, ages 0-64, with complex medical conditions, defined as two or more conditions requiring coordination of multiple specialties or high cost claimants ($100k/year or above). The purpose of the pilot is to assess whether such a program improves health outcomes and patient experience for covered beneficiaries with complex medical conditions, including reduced use of unnecessary emergency room or urgent care visits due to lack of understanding of benefit options. Through the TRICARE Select Navigator pilot, Accolade assigns an independent clinical nurse (advisor) to support each eligible beneficiary in a personalized way throughout their healthcare experience. The nurse conducts assessments to identify clinical needs and help beneficiaries understand tests, costs, risks, and treatment options. The nurse assists in hospital admissions/discharge and collaborates with providers to coordinate care. VISIT THE TRICARE WEBSITE TO SIGN=UP AND LEARN MORE: https://tricare.mil/selectnavigator2020 |
