Job Title: Deputy Director, Accounting & Finance
Status: Full-time/Exempt
AFSA is a non-profit, federally chartered 501(c)(19) organization representing the professional and personal interests of the Total Air Force: active duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve Command, retired, veterans, and their families. We are 110,000 members strong, and the only sole Air Force enlisted veteran service organization chartered to lobby congress for military benefits. Our leadership team is a well-educated force composed of military and veteran members that that have dedicated their lives in the name of freedom and the care of our Air Force and its Airmen.
We are currently accepting resumes for a Deputy Director, Accounting & Finance. This position reports directly to the Director, Accounting & Finance. The position is primarily responsible for a wide range of accounting and financial duties including Journal Entries, General Ledger and Financial Statements; also has oversight of A/P, A/R, and Payroll functions. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have strong organization skills, be a customer service oriented team player, and be knowledgeable in all phases of accounting; the ability to multi-task and be self-motivated are essential skills.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and schedules on a monthly basis.
- Prepare bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Prepare quarterly and monthly financial statements.
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual taxes.
- Review and approve all batches from accounting software (MIP) and post to proper accounts on a daily basis.
- Manage and oversees payroll process on a bi-weekly basis, which includes approving time sheets and leave requests.
- Review and approves accounts payable batches and post in accounting software (MIP).
- Manage corporate investments and banking royalties.
- Review and approve requests for payment (RFP) for monthly and quarterly expenses.
- Supervise 3 Accounting & Finance staff.
- Provides back up to A/P, A/R, and Payroll as needed.
- Other duties as may be assigned and needed by the CEO and/or COO.
Requirements:
- Qualified candidate with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting
- A minimum of five (5) years Non-Profit or Association Accounting experience
- Three to five years supervisory/management experience.
- Knowledge of iMIS software is a plus.
- An understanding of Air Force organization and culture is highly preferred.
